Check your site's SEO tags in 3 steps

Make sure your site's HTML structure meets Google's recommendations. Follow the guide.

To check the activation of the different tags, display its HTML code. Follow the next steps:

  • 1nd step : Display in your browser the web page whose HTML structure you want to check.
  • 2nd step : View the HTML code for this page using the following commands:
    • In the Firefox browser, menu Tools> Web developer> Source code of the page (keyboard shortcut: CTRL U)
    • In Internet Explorer, menu View> Source
    • In Chrome, menu Tools> Show source (keyboard shortcut: CTRL U)
    • The HTML code for the page is displayed, loaded with HTML “tags”. These labels are used to structure the different parts of the page: header, body of the page, titles, links, etc. For example, the general title of the page will appear between the tags (start) and (end).
    • Text is simply typed between these start and end tags like in this example: Hanging wooden pantry | Michu Hardware . Thus defined, this title will appear for example as a clickable title (blue and underlined) in the results pages of Google.
  • 3nd step : Check for the presence of the primordial tags: , <h1> and <h2>. Use the Find command (keyboard shortcut: CTRL F) to save time. Start with <title>. The majority of sites have enabled this tag on all of their pages and filled it out. Now look for the <h1> then <h2> tags. Are they fulfilled? Or non-existent?

Now you know what your enabled tags are. See what you have to do ... or not.
