Sonos Era speakers could respond to the HomePod 2 in 2023

Sonos' audio-centric space speakers are rumored to be released as the Era 300 and Era 100, according to a new report.

Previously leaked speakers detailed under the codename Optimo and The Verge's sources say they'll be ready to battle the influx of smart speakers into traditional Sonos territory.

According to the report, the speakers will be designed to present "immersive spatial audio" music and Dolby Atmos audio from video content. The Verge report says the top-end Era 300 will feature Wi-Fi 6, along with Bluetooth and USB-C audio.

The leak claims that the Era 300 will "deliver the richest fidelity of any speaker ever released by Sonos", which seems to suggest we could see a premium price tag far eclipsing the £/$299 price tag that Apple placed on the HomePod (2nd generation). In terms of size, it may resemble the older Play:5 speaker, according to previous reports.

The Era 100, which could be a spiritual successor to the hugely successful Sonos One, would be smaller, according to the report. It also provides an "SL" option minus access to voice mics for voice assistants. Maybe this range would be more affordable than the Era 300.

He would have 'piloyour Dolby Atmos on the rise” to salify the clamor of Sonos fans who use the speakers for their home theater needs. According to past leaks, the design would contribute to this multi-directional audio goal. 3D renders showed a dual-angled device with speakers emitting sound in different directions.

These speakers could launch sometime in 2023, alongside a sequel to the Sonos Move – the company's battery-powered but not as portable Bluetooth speaker. The audio giant is also expected to have a pair of premium over-ear headphones in the pipeline.
