New iPhone SE with 5G could be unveiled in March or April

The new iPhone SE with 5G could arrive in the coming months, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

We could see the third-generation iPhone SE next spring if Gurman is to be believed in his latest newsletter power on.

Apple is expected to hold its first virtual event of the year around March or April, where we can expect to see new iPhone announcements and more.

On April 15, 2020, the company announced the second generation iPhone SE, however, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was announced via a press release and not at an in-person or virtual event.

Gurman predicts that the latest iPhone SE should be updated with 5G compatibility and new internals. The iPhone SE 2 runs on 13's A2019 chip and tops out at 4G LTE, so it would make sense for the company to pack in the latest SE model with improved features and a newer chipset.

He also thinks the iPhone SE 3 will have a similar design to the iPhone 8, suggesting a glass back with rounded corners and curved edges.

There was no mention of any other changes, so we may not see updated camera sensors or increased storage to 128GB, although that fits the low cost lens of the SE range. On the other hand, it wouldn't be surprising if the battery got an overhaul, as 5G consumes more power.

Beyond the latest SE model, it's also been mentioned that Apple may announce a new 27-inch iMac, as well as higher-end Mac mini models with the M1 Pro and M1 Max chipsets. These should also appear during the event in the spring.
