What is Resident Evil?

What will Netflix's Resident Evil series be about?

Like video game history, the new Netflix series Resident Evil is a sci-fi horror series that chronicles the worldwide outbreak of the T-virus that turns those infected with it into zombies.

The Resident Evil Netflix series will bring fans of the saga an all-new story set across two different timelines. Indeed, the series will follow Jade and Billie Wesker as teenagers, in 2022, before jumping into the future, more precisely in 2036, with Jade in her thirties, after an epidemic of zombies. The series will also examine the inner workings of the sinister Umbrella Corporation and the state of the world following the outbreak of the T-Virus.

In 2022,

The first part, which will take place in 2022, will talk about the beginning of the epidemic in Raccoon City, where Umbrella Corporation is located. This first season will take place in eight episodes of approximately one hour each.

In this part, Wesker will be tasked with making a new antidepressant called " Joy which offers substantial health benefits to its users, but also contains the deadly T virus. 14-year-old sisters Billie and Jade Wesker, who appear to be guinea pigs to test the drug, soon discover the drug company's sinister plan.

Jade and Billie will be transferred to Raccoon City, an industrial city, against their will. But the more time they spend there, the more they will realize that the city is more different than it seems, but also that their own father may be hiding dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world.

In 2036,

The second part of the series will be set in the year 2036, where Jade finds herself on the streets of London as a lonely pandemic survivor. As the T-Virus takes over the world and creates hordes of killer zombies across 5 continents, Jade will have to team up with other battle-hardened survivors and hold her ground to save humanity.

There will be less than 15 million people left on Earth and more than six billion monsters, people and/or animals infected with the T virus. Jade, who will be 30 years old by then, will struggle to survive in this new world, while that the secrets of her past, about her sister, her father and herself, will continue to haunt her.

Resident Evil release date

The Resident Evil series will be available on VOD from July 14, 2022, on the Netflix platform. The eight episodes of this first season will all be viewable on the same day.
